Harbour View regained pole position in the Digicel Premier
League (DPL) with a convincing 3-1 win over St Georges at the
Compound last night.
The
Stars of the East secured their 14th win from 27
games and have opened up a three point lead over champions
Tivoli Gardens.
Goals
by Kavin Bryan (34), Andre Fagan (43) and Marcelino Blackburn
(89th) pushed Harbour View to 54 points in what is
fast becoming a two-horse race for the title.
National defender Jermaine Taylor got the consolation goal for
St Georges in the 48th minute as they stayed fifth on
37 points and basically out of title contention.
Meanwhile Arnett Gardens scored a crucial 1-0 win over Portmore
United in their bottom-of-the-table clash at the Ferdie Neita
Park.
The
towering Newton Sterling got his second consecutive match winner
in the 54th minute as Arnett leapfrogged both
Portmore United and Humble Lions into 10th spot on 29
points.
Portmore dropped to the bottom with 27 points after losing their
12th game from 28 matches.
Arnett
are just two points behind the sixth-placed team August Town in
a closely knitted mid table in what is expected to be a dog
fight to the end with 11 games remaining.
The
DPL continue on Sunday with six games with leaders Harbour view
playing cellar team Portmore United in an intriguing matchup. |
